Admittedly, I only began to properly understand Burial’s music in the past year, but as the saying goes, it’s better late than never. After hearing some of his stuff and reading all of the hype back around 2011 when dubstep was the buzzword of the day, I could never understand why his stuff was so revered. Thankfully my tastes have matured a bit since I was 14 and now I can really appreciate just how good this mans tunes are.
What I personally love the most about Burial’s stuff is his ability to sonically capture that sometimes beautiful, sometimes depressing post-rave state. Those days after the rave when your mind’s a bit fragile and you’re wondering what the fuck you’re doing with your life. At times like those this record really helps to soothe the mind.
To mark a decade since this seminal album was released, RA made this great wee video on the album, its creation and its legacy.
